Now what?

A fews weeks back I posted a pretty raw piece about what’s going on in my life. You can read it here if you missed it. I had no idea the amount of attention it would get. My Facebook page blew up and a lot of people reached out to me with support. It was pretty bad ass and I appreciated all of it.

So now what? What do you do when something like that happens? I was just venting but in doing so I kind of called myself out. It’s like,”Ok man, you’ve let the world know that you are handling some serious shit pretty well but how do you sustain that momentum?” When the support ends you are forced to dive right back into what’s going on. This has made me take a serious look at my life and ask what should I do next?

So? What should I do next? Am I happy? Kind of. Could I be happier? Absolutely. How does one accomplish this? I have no clue.

That’s why I posted this video from Nerd Fitness. This guys is awesome. He decided to take life by the balls and make it his bitch. I love that. Now THAT looks like some of the scariest shit ever. Making a list and chipping through it one by one. Brilliant. I bet a large percentage of people out there will tell themselves that they can never do that. And guess what? You won’t because you just told yourself that. I believe that people can do whatever they believe. If you believe you can’t then you won’t. If you believe you can then you will. Done.

People have no legs and run marathons for Christ sake. So don’t tell me that the things you want to accomplish can’t be done. You bet your ass they can.

Soooo, yeah, I’m super motivated and fired up to shake some shit up in my life. But where do I start? Analysis paralysis can be an issue in situations like this. Sometimes you just have to get up and walk out the door and do something. Anything. Just do something (maybe that should be Nike’s tag).

Here is my list of things that I should do more and things that I would like to try. One of these just might be the answer I am looking for:

– Sign up for more mud runs

– Do the Urbanathalon

– Run the Boston Marathon

– Kyack

– Rock climb

– Mountain bike (did this yesterday and loved it)

– Long board

– Paddle board

– Sign back up for kickball (done)

– Surf

– Hike

– Do more Yoga

– Try Pilates

– Hunt a human like Surviving the Game (jk)

– Join a Meditation group

If I think of more then I will share that so I can hold myself accountable. Feel free to add some ideas in the comments below. Here’s to crushing it.

Here’s to taking life by the balls and making it your bitch 😉 Hopefully the support doesn’t end, but you’ve definitely found a good way to maintain your momentum. You rock, and all of those things sound awesome.

You rock. And your son is adorable.

Not sure how I missed this, but thank you! We should catch up some time!

Love this brother – keep the enthusiasm at a 10! Oh, and I do much of that stuff so maybe we can hit some of it together!

    • doyleRiot

      Yes we shall.

I found that Yoga not only strengthens me as an athlete (because it physically compliments Crossfit, hoop dance, and running)…. but it also has a calming effect and strengthens me mentally. If you try it or get into it, let me know how you like it! I was happy to see that on your list 🙂 Also… you know how I live my life by lists and to-do lists… I swear by them for success and productivity. They can bring you through a tough time just by keeping you busy. So also: happy list making!

Yeah I’ve done it here and there. Need to find a place that I can go a few times a month. There’s a studio right here in town so I’ll probably check it out.

No we really should play Surviving The Game. I have a few targets in mind.

    • doyleRiot

      I’ve got at least 1.

Awesome! What level are you on??? GAME ON!
